When is a Water Line Installation Necessary?

If you are adding a new structure to your property, it may be necessary to install a new water line between the new addition and your existing structure or to connect the new structure to the city’s water supply. These options must be explored on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration the flow requirements of each structure and their locations relative to the municipal water supply.

What to Expect During a Water Line Installation

A water line is normally installed by digging a long trench along the most practical route. This can be difficult if that path runs near trees or under large, heavy landscaping features. The depth of the water line must also be sufficient to prevent frost from reaching it during the sudden freezes and thaws of winter. Properly installed, it will be serviceable for a long time, and burying the line deep in the earth is the best way to protect it from the need for replacement after various events which can cause damage or excessive wear and tear.

After the line has been installed and connected to both the city’s water supply and your home or business, we restore your water pressure and check along the line for any sign of leakage. We do not begin backfilling the trench until we are certain that the fittings are tightly sealed at both ends and that the line is in good condition.

The expert plumbers from Viking do have access to some trench-less methods of water line installation, but be aware that these methods cannot be used for all water line installations. Your professional plumber will always appraise your unique installation needs and suggest the most cost-effective means of satisfying them.
